    2004 Fare Predictions from Save Our Ferries

     

    In 2004/05 the  Save Our Ferries team toured the Coastal Communities, from Masset to Mayne Island to talk about the Coastal Ferry Act.  During the tour, we had a full presentation and one part focused on fares; actually we tried to determine what the fares would look like in 2011.

    At the time when we were presenting the fares, I was concerned that our calculations were high, and at the time we were being accused of using fear tactics.  We completed the tour, and we held onto our position, that fares were going to go up, and that we were not fear mongers.

    Six years later, going through all the Save Our Ferries material that we have produced over the years, trying to figure out what we could use on the new site, I found the old presentation.  So I decided to compare our predictions to what has really happened with Fares, and I can freely admit that we were wrong, except for one, which was purely by luck.

    So here you go the 2011 fares compared to our 2004 predictions.
