Save Our Ferries Advocacy Group
 

 Our Mission

The Save Our Ferries Advocacy Group was formed by the BC Ferry and Marine Workers' Union to fight back against the Coastal Ferry Act (CFA). Over the past five years the group has worked hard, in conjunction with community groups and elected officials to inform and educate coastal communities on the impact the Act has and will continue to have on our marine highways and local communities. The purpose of this advocacy group is to inform our members and the public at large about threats flowing from the CFA to the public ferry system and to our ferry dependent communities. We strive through education and awareness campaigns to motivate the public to a response to the Liberal Government's privatization agenda. Through petitioning and lobbying of elected officials, our objective is to persuade the government to have the content of the Act revisited following an open, public consultation process seeking direction from all stakeholders.  The SOF Group remains committed to the premise that British Columbia's marine highway should be returned to public ownership, accountable and responsible to the taxpayers and ferry users of BC under an amended Coastal Ferry Act.

The Advocacy Group

The Save our Ferries Advocacy Group is currently composed of British Columbia Ferry and Marine Workers' Union, and concerned members of the public.

The group is seeking input and participation, from all concerned groups and citizens.
